The 2008 McCall Winter Carnival is set for Jan. 25 through Feb. 3 and will have the theme "Wild, Wild West!"
This year's event will continue with many of the traditions of carnivals past, such as elaborate snow sculptures, Monte Carlo Night, the Mardi Gras Parade and the popular beer garden.
In addition this year, some new events will be added, including an extreme rider snowmobile event and locally designed commemorative pins and shirts. Also new this year is the ability to purchase items such as event tickets, merchandise and sponsorship opportunities online with a credit card.
"The McCall Chamber is excited to host the 43rd Annual McCall.
Winter Carnival," said Tamara Sandmeyer, executive director of McCall Chamber of Commerce.
"We recognize that thousands of people come to town each year to enjoy the McCall way of life and experience the winter events with their families," Sandmeyer said. "We are excited to enhance this event, and we encourage vendors and sponsors to sign up quickly because space is running out."
Other events, including Snowshoe Golf, the Monster Dog Pull, the Snowmobile Fun Run and live music are scheduled for the 10-day festival. Sign-ups for sponsors, event chairmen and vendors are being accepted now.
