THE STAR NEWS

Brundage Mountain Resort north of McCall will open today' following a storm earlier this week that dumped 26 inches of fresh snow in 24 hours.

"That was a whopper of a storm," resort spokesperson April Russell said. "It had been snowing over an inch an hour starting Sunday morning, and our crews were quickly on the hill working to pack, track, and groom the slopes."

Brundage plans to run all five chairlifts today, including the new Bear Chair and Lakeview Lifts. All regular services and programs will be available, and crews will be working around the clock to get as many slopes groomed as possible.

Visitors will be treated to two new chairlifts and 160 acres of new terrain in the Lakeview Bowl. The $3.5-million investment more than doubles the resort's uphill capacity.

The Bear Chair will connect the Brundage Mountain Kid's Center With more beginner and advanced beginner terrain than ever before.

The Lakeview Lift will open up 160 acres of south-facing terrain, including four groomed runs and many lines of untracked powder.

Daily lift operations run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Daily lift passes cost $48 for adults; $34 for ages 12 to 18, $22 for ages 7 to 11 and $34 for over age 65. Children age 6 and younger ski free.

Tamarack Resort
Tamarack Resort west of Donnelly opened for daily skiing on Saturday, although not all of the mountain was ready to ski by midweek.

The Tamarack Express quad is open to mid-mountain for 1,800feet of vertical drop on the Serenity and Walz runs.

The Discovery Chair was providing access to the beginner run and beginner terrain park at the base of the mountain.

In addition, Tamarack's Nordic & Snowshoe Center has groomed five to 10 kilometers of trail at mid-mountain.

More terrain will open as additional snowfall and snowmaking allows, spokesman Jessica Flynn said.

Until then, reduced lift ticket prices are in effect.

Tickets for the Tamarack Express cost $30 for adults and $16 for teens, while the Discovery Chair for beginner terrain only is free. A daily Nordic pass costs $9.

The lifts are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
