Cabin Creek Fire Update
The Cabin Creek Fire is currently 5,494 acres and had been growing at an average of 200 acres a day. Recent rain has significantly slowed the spread of the fire.
Fire officials continue to monitor the fire and will be watching for potential values at risk over the next few days especially west and north of the Big Creek drainage. Twelve firefighters have been staffing the fire since its start. They are patrolling from Taylor Ranch to Cabin Creek to monitor fire conditions. Due to the rain fire officials are re-evaluating the need for continued staffing of the fire. Periodic overflights will continue to take place to aid fire projection modeling and mapping efforts.
The fire is moving north and northwest across Cave Creek. There is some potential for the fire to move north into the timber in the Cow Creek area. No structures or communities are currently at risk from this fire which is located in a remote area of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness.
